Interchange: Fed Raises Rate to 21 plus 5 bp for Fraud; Focus on Exemption Being Effective

The results of the Federal Reserve’s rule process on debit card interchange is probably the best we could have hoped for given the restraints driven by the Durbin Amendment. The final rule raises the rate to 21 cents and allows for 5 bp for fraud (to be based on the size of the purchase) as well as delaying implementation until October 1. Click here for more.

Interchange Rule will be out on the 29th

The Federal Reserve Board will unveil its final rule on debit interchange on Wednesday, June 29, the board announced this afternoon. The board will hold a public meeting to consider the final rule governing debit card interchange fees and routing provisions. Click here.
